Yvonne Maitin

Ms. Maitin is CEO at One Africa Capital,  a Private Markets focused, social impact investment firm. Yvonne  has deep technical, and leadership experience gained over 25 years serving in the financial services industry across private equity investment management, private debt, investment banking, stockbroking, derivatives and economic research. Apart from her expansive career in the private sector, Yvonne spent 7 years as an entrepreneur where she founded and managed a licensed private equity firm investing in the SA mid-market sector  before joining the Public Investment Corporation as the Head: Unlisted Investments managing an investment portfolio of over R125 Billion.

She began her private equity career at Actis Private Equity in 2007 where she was a member of the Pan-African investment team. Her role included deal origination, financial modelling, investment appraisals and portfolio management & monitoring serving on investee company boards.

She later joined the Liberty group where she was a Divisional Director at Libfin involved in on-balance sheet private equity, senior debt & credit investments thereafter she served as a private equity specialist fundraiser at STANLIB, the Asset Management arm within the Liberty group. In 2016, she became a partner at Bopa Moruo, a private equity fund manager where she was a member of the investment team. In addition to the investment management activities in the private markets industry, she has operational experience in setting up private equity Fund Structures with an understanding of the legal, FSCA regulatory and administration requirements.

Prior to the above, Yvonne was a derivatives trader and structurer at Standard Bank Corporate & Investment Banking (Global markets) where she was responsible for sales and structuring of instruments used in Asset & Liability Management in SA and the Rest of Africa. She operated across 10 African countries and amoung various achievements, she led, structured and executed the first long-dated cross-currency basis swap in Uganda, which was recognized as the ‘Deal of the Year 2005’ for its innovation and success.

Yvonne has a solid foundation formed in Macro-Economic research, analysis and econometric modelling while serving as an Economic analyst at Credit Suisse in 2000.

She has strong leadership and governance experience gained from serving on several boards including Norsad Capital, the South African Venture Capital & Private Equity Association and the Black Business Council.

Yvonne holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland (UK) and a BCom (Honours) in Financial Economics & Econometrics from Rhodes University. She is licensed by the Financial Services Conduct Authority (FSCA) to manage Pension Fund savings in financial markets.
