Dr. Theopista Ntale Sekitto

Dr. Theopista Ntale Sekitto (PhD) is a Ugandan. She is a finance and gender specialist, social entrepreneur, women activist and  philanthropist. She is currently the Executive Director of New Faces New Voices- Uganda Chapter, a women led organization under the  Graca Machel Trust, focused on empowerment of women through providing services and advocating for policies that promote financial inclusion. She is a Director- NSHUTI Financial Consumer Advisory Center (NFCAC),  the first citizens reference bureau in Uganda where consumers of financial products and services receive technical advice, seek redress and action oriented arbitration. 

Theopista has been a board member for different organizations; (i) Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) where she has actively promoted gender equity in education; (ii)Kampala District Land Board/ charged with managing government land; (iii) She is the advisor Smart campaign; (iv) National Advisory Council and Board Member, Hospice Africa.

Theopista is an advocate for an economically independent and socially empowered African woman; thus the African Ambassador for the Financial Alliance for Women. In this role, she is charged with working with financial institutions across Africa to design products that suit women needs.

She is a financial specialist, having worked in the formal banking sector for over 15 years and most notably, as a gender equality advocate, she spearheaded the design and managed the DFCU Bank’s Women in Business Program aimed at improving access to financial services by women through tailored services and products, revamping the bank’s women liability and asset profile, and women entrepreneur’s business management skills. She was the Head of Business- Spark TV and NTV- Uganda for 5 years.

She is a recipient of numerous awards including: Global Village Award 2007 (from North America), “100 Top Women in the World Making A difference” 2013 a Global Award by the International Alliance for Women (TIAW), Washington D.C. At a national level, she was a privileged recipient of the Presidential Gold Jubilee Medal in 2016. This was based on the work New Faces New Voices Uganda Chapter did in Lwengo and Gomba districts of Uganda where the FINISAVE model of social economic transformation was successfully implemented.
